Lrn - Learn to code in HTML, CSS, Javascript, Ruby & Python App Reviews

Love the app! I am trying to take the next 12 months the and study 30-40 hours a week to learn how to code and Lrn has become one of the daily tools to achieve this goal. I hope they add more lessons/challenges and additional programming languages. I would gladly pay for that.

This is something thats effectively keeping me from using the app on my iPad Pro. Since I have the keyboard, I want to use it to do this, but because the app doesnt support landscape orientation (WHY?!) Im not even going to bother.

Very happy with my free download from the Apple Store! I would recommend this to anybody who wants to learn JavaScript, Ruby or Python or the basics if you havent learned it yet, HTML &CSS. It gave me a foundation to get used to before I could even understand the lessons being taught online. I have a learning disability so the extra practice was extremely functional to my learning journey in earning a degree in Computer Science!

Good app, informational, BUT you have to pay sooner or later, cant move on until you do.

Literally the best learning app to get started. You will know all the basics you need to know. Super helpful

This app is overall very useful for a beginner. You have to buy half of contents, but I think its worthwhile. Above all you can introduce several programming languages to yourself in a very easy and fun way. I like it so far.

No landscape support. I have an iPad Pro with keyboard and wanted to use this app in landscape. Add this feature.

I feel like Ive learned better through other methods. This is for two reasons: (1) I dont find the attempts at wittiness/humor in the Lrn app to be entertaining or productive, theyre more distracting and campy than anything else, (2) selecting answers rather than typing them in doesnt involve as much egagement in the activity and resulted in my not remembering the code as well. Its a decent app for doing things on-the-go, but not something Id use as my primary learning resource. Given my experience learning programming in classrooms, online through courses, online through articles, through apps, and interactive websites, this Lrn app strikes me as informative entertainment. It is informative, but it feels more like entertainment, because I just dont feel like Ive absorbed as much. I wish there were a mode to enter things manually at every step, and something to turn off those campy comments...but then again, that would sort of turn this into another app...

Ive been looking for an app like this for years. No hours of videos I dont have time to watch. No dictionaries of definitions written in technical language. What this app offers is the context for when and why each feature is useful, explained simply in plain English, with instant examples to make the examples concrete. Also, the quizzes and flashcards at the end of each section really helped me understand where review would be helpful. These are the first overviews that have made me feel excited to go out and explore more about the code... To try different options and see how everything fits together. Im so glad I gave this a try!

This app helps reinforce what you already know and introduces things you might not by taking you through simple, interactive steps. I enjoy using it when I have down time.

Just starting out in ruby and im using three beginner tools all at the same time. This one is my favorite. At some point you have to either connect with facebook or pay.....I thought the 7 bucks was worth it for all courses. I am not sure if you can complete a full course for free, but I really like how this is done.
